Fabric Collage & Storytelling Workshop
The Ibura Art and Research Residency welcomes 4 residents biennially (in cohorts of 2 people) to connect their practice to Blue Light Junctions (BLJ) mission, values, environment and work. As part of the residency, IARR residents offer a free community engagement to conclude their time at BLJ.

Join visual artist and writer Jordan Brown for a fabric collage and writing workshop at Blue Light Junction. After a short demonstration, participants will be invited to develop symbols, phrases, and shapes that tell a story, recall a dream or share a memory. Participants will then thoughtfully and intentionally compose these items into a collage and finally title their pieces with a short piece of writing. All ages are welcome, although parents may need to assist small children.
Ibura Art & Research Residency Bio:
Jordan Brown is a visual artist, poet and performer. Working primarily in textile and collage, his work remixes symbols of gender, Black American culture, and queer identity to generate mythologies that rehearse a liberated future. He is one-fourth of the Chicago-based Black performance art collective Suspended Culture. He holds an MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
