Foundations in Natural Dyes
This is a sliding scale series of 5 hands on classes. The class costs $350 - $450. To register please pay the full price or pay in two parts. The first payment in full or the first payment of two must happen prior to the start of class on, Wednesday, February 12th. If paying in two installments the second payment must happen by the third session on Wednesday, March 05th. Due to the extensive preparation of this offering running this class is contingent on 5 students minimum. If for some reason the class does not meet the minimum student number full refunds will be issued by February 19th.

Week 1: Fabric Prep & Mordants: Learn how to prepare fiber and use a variety of mordants + tannins in preparation for effective dyeing.
Week 2: Printing with Mordants: Directly apply mordants to create dynamic imagery
Week 3: Calling in Color: coax vibrant color utilizing various natural dyes + tannins.
Week 4: Color shifting + Discharging Mordants and Dyes: Experiment with a variety of bases and acids to discover experimental color and patterns.
Week 5: Experiment w/Soy Milk Sizing, earth pigments + complete final projects.
